The red beet and the test of intestinal function
Red beet is another herb that it is known for its many medicinal properties. Both the root and the leaf of the red beet have healing properties. The wild red beet was used as a medicine two thousand years ago. Red beet has a high proportion of anti-cancer agents, carotenoids, folic acid and antioxidants. The distinctive red color comes from betacyanins, which are strong antioxidants. Red beet contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and vitamin C, phosphorus, sodium, calcium, potassium and iron.
There are many medicinal properties of red beet. Because of the high amount of betanin it is a traditional cure for cancer. It is also recommended for benign tumors, leukemia and breast cancer, esophageal gland, head, gut, legs, lips, lung, prostate, colon, spleen, stomach and uterus. Red beet also helps reduce stress, rheumatism, gout; reduces acid in the urine, bronchitis, pneumonia, influenza, diseases of the nerves and the brain. It is recommended to use for the patients who are in the process of radiation. It is very useful in diseases of the liver and the blood. Red beet is used with anemia, atherosclerosis, elevated blood lipids, blood pressure, infections, liver disease; it preserves the elasticity of the arteries and prevents free radicals that destroy cells. It is recommended for pregnant women because of the large amounts of folic acid, which prevents disease of newborns. It is also an essential ingredient during detoxification of the body. Helps with headache, toothache, back pain, menstrual pain and skin diseases.
Red beet juice increases endurance – it impacts the level of plasma nitrate, and also increases muscle endurance. Because of that, it is consumed by many athletes.
According to Ayurveda, red beet has warming properties and it is especially good on cold days.
Red beet can be consumed as food or as a juice. Even canned red beet contains a large number of healthy nutrients. The leaves of beetroot are also very healthy, they contain beta-carotene, folic acid, chlorophyll, calcium, iron and vitamin C. They can be used as pulp juice or prepared as a spinach.
Red beet can be used as a good test for checking the functioning of the intestine, and whether they need cleaning. Eat a salad from one red beet or drink two tablespoons of red beet juice. After a few hours check the color of urine. If the urine changes color to red – it is a sign that our intestines are not working well, and indicates that toxins are passing directly through the intestine, liver, kidneys and blood, which warns us that the toxins are accumulated in our body and that we need a detoxification or intestinal cleaning.
