Hiking – Activ program

On the program we have 8 paths where we walk. All paths are located within just 10 kilometers from hotel Medena and it is possible to walk all effortlessly, with average body condition. For those who have a better condition it is always possible to extend paths, because we reach some of the paths with cars. Walking all paths we visit Seget Donji, Seget Gornji, Trogir, Seget Vranjica and Žedno, hills Vlaška, Sutlija, Jelinak and Labinštica. During walking in Trogir we go around the old center of historic Trogir, with its monuments, religious buildings, historic buildings and exceptional architecture. During the our other walks we visit view point on the hill Vlaška, the church of St. Ilija on Mount Sutlija, the old village Seget Donji, wind farm Jelinak, TV transmitter on the hill Labinštica, we walk the old “Napoleon road” from Seget Donji to Seget Gornji. In addition to mentioned locations, on every walk we can enjoy the untouched nature, beautiful views of the central Dalmatian islands and enjoy in the today rarely clean air, away from large industrial polluters.

  1. HOTEL MEDENA – MARINA BAOTIĆ (SEGET DONJI) – HOTEL MEDENA

Trail description: We depart from the hotel Medena, along the sea promenade come to old village Seget Donji. Seget Donji is located 2 km away from Trogir, administratively belongs to the municipality Seget, and it is the largest settlement. The old center Seget, or village as it is called here is a small fishing village, located inside a rectangular medieval castle, which was built on the model of the monumental Diocletian palace. For precise time bases of Seget we can take 13 January 1564, when the Trogir Prince Augustin Bembo issued a permit to Jacob Rotunda (the scribe of city treasury) to build a tower and next to it the fortified village. In this fortified village soon began to descend peasants from scattered villages in the surrounding hills, to facilitate defense against Turkish attacks. Like Trogir citadels that occurred on the western side of Trogir, building Seget the defensive fortifications spread eastward to the Marina. About antique past Seget witnessed two altars dedicated to the Greek hero Heracles, who were found in a quarry under the hill of St. Ilija. In the nearby field is located more churches of which are oldest ruins of the church of St. Danijel from the early Middle Ages. In the place Seget is the baroque church of Our Lady of the Rosary, which was built in 1758, on the foundations of a small church of Our Lady of the Rosary and St. Anthony of Padua, which was previously destroyed. The church keeps a Gothic painted cross from XIV century and painted wooden triptych, works by Blaise George of Trogir. After the old Seget we come to marina “Baotić” where is the end of this path, and the same way we return to the hotel Medena.

  1. HOTEL MEDENA – SEGET VRANJICA – HOTEL MEDENA

Trail description: We depart from the hotel Medena, walking down the promenade along the beach and through the pinewood we come to the camp at the beginning of the peninsula Vranjica. After the camp by the trail above the beach we come to center of Seget Vranjica. Seget Vranjica is a former fishing village that has developed into a peaceful tourist destination with a wide range of quality accommodation, with a special emphasis camp. After the town through the woods, by the old road we come back to the hotel.

  1. ČIOVO (MONASTERY of st. ANTE – ŽEDNO – MONASTERY of st. ANTE)

Trail description: From the hotel the van transported us to monastery of St. Ante on Čiovo side of Trogir. The decision on the construction of the monastery brought the city of Trogir with Prince Šimun Ditrik and in agreement with the doge Domenico Mocenigo. The establishment is allowed Pope Eugene IV. with Bull of “kindness of the Holy See” 18 June 1432. At 1500 because of the danger of Turkish attacks in the monastery transferred image of Our Lady from the Drid near Marina. According to Our Lady’s picture on the main altar (which is rotten), made the image on the glass (also destroyed) by which the Slovenian painter Fra Blaž Farčnik 1945 painted a present picture. After the monastery, by light macadam road we walk to the village Žedno. The village has a church of St. Mavra from the 4th century in which the monks gathered, and in the center of the village  is church Blessed Ivan of Trogir. At the entrance to the village we turn to the field path to return to the van. Field path takes us through old olive groves and fields of vines, and offers a view of hill Marjan in Split to Šibenik in the west.

  1. SEGET DONJI – St. ILIJA – SEGT DONjI

Trail description: from the hotel the van transported us to the beginning of “Path of health” in Seget. The trail takes the “Path of health”, the former “Napoleon road” from Seget. The church of St. Ilija was built in the 18th century on the site of the old Illyrian ruins, and by the end of the 18th century around it was a cemetery. The church named after St. Ilija, although through history few times it was struck by lightning. (Sv. Iija Thunderer). Return the same way.

  1. PATH OF HEALTH – LOOKOUT VLAŠKA – HOTEL MEDENA

Trail description: from the hotel the van transported us to the middle of “Path of health”  and away on foot we head towards to the lookout on the hill Vlaška, after the break on the lookout where is a wonderful view from Split over Drvenik to Marina, with the same path we return to the van.

  1. HILL JELINAK (wind-power plant)

Trail description: from the hotel the van transported us to the to the hill Jelinak. Hill Jelinak is interesting becouse it holds one of the first wind-power plants in Croatia. Today WPP Jelinak is one of the largest WPP in Croatia with its 20 wind turbines with individual power rating of 1.5 MW, and total of installed capacity of 30MW. Other than the magnificent wind turbine height of about 60m, there is amazing view  from Trogir to Šibenik and on the sunny weather to island Jabuka.

  1. TV RELAY STATION LABINŠTICA

Trail description: The van leaves us in the village Tomaši, from which along the paved road we head towards the top of the hill Labinštica located above the village of Dalmatian Labin, where is same name train station. At the top of the hill starts hiking trail that leads to Dalmatian Labin. Ascent is steep, but because of the paved road is quite easy to overcome. At the top of the hill is TV relay station, from which the entire Dalmatia receives TV signal. The view stretches from  Split on the east, islands Brač, Hvar and Šolta on the south, to the islands Vis and Jabuka and Šibenik archipelago on the west, and from this hill you can see the whole Dalmatian hinterland to the Herzegovina.

Trail description: The van leaves us in the middle of “Path of health”, by gentle downhill  we follow the macadam road around the hill Vlaška to Seget Vranjica and hotel Medena. The path is easy and downhill passes along old olive fields and dry stone walls. The only discomfort to us bring flocks of pheasants, which disturb with our steps. We pass along old olive fields and have a view over the local hill imbued with dry stone walls. At the end of path outbreaks on parking lot of the hotel.
